Ik heb dat ook altijd wel gemeend, maar sinds ik el-cheapo-high-end stream, constateer ik hoorbare verschillen tussen usb-kabeltjes die gebruikt worden tussen de harddisk en de mediaspeler. Die verschillen lijken los te staan van de prijs en het al of niet toepassen van (enkele of dubbele) afscherming in de kabel. Het staat ook los van de kabellengte (nooit meer dan 90cm overigens). Ik heb één kabeltje dat het duidelijk beter doet. Daarvan heb ik er meteen twee, en beide laten zich in gelijke mate als beter kwalificeren dan andere USB kabeltjes in de collectie. Ik weet werkelijk niet hoe dit komt, maar het is wel evident hoorbaar voor iedereen. Ik wil wel graag weten hoe dit kan, opdat ik zelf een usb-verbindinkje kan solderen dat dan ideaal is.

Ik vernam ook iets over een heel andere kijk op MQA... "At the end of the day, it is IMO a grave strategic mistake by Meridian, to choose this deceptive route of attempting to implement this proprietary copyright protection scheme in the music industry. Yes, that's what it's all about. Mark my words. MQA is a security scheme, that prevents piracy and prints a lot of money for the license holders. (until it is cracked, which they try to make harder by fixing it to proprietary hardware). They claim on their website, that its a purely scientific audio quality improvement and that they can "provide references to all the significant scientific studies for anyone interested." You have to be able to read this kind of deceptive marketing language, which I am, from over twenty years of reading and peer-reviewing scientific papers vs what the marketing departments make out of it... They actually are saying, that they can link to studies that show that their premises are valid. So far so good. But what they have NO studies for, is that any of their technological implementations of said findings, in the MQA scheme, are of significant relevance and improve audio quality compared to a non-proprietary open source audio format. The findings re timing issues pro higher sampling frequencies are for most artificial laboratory conditions only, which alone renders them irrelevant for real world mobile use. Anyone knowing how a real world transfer function of loudspeakers or headphones - even the very best ones - looks like, will just laugh about their attempt to sell "The Emperor's New Science" to the gullible masses. Mark these words too. THERE IS NOT A SINGLE SCIENITIFC STUDY, THAT PROVES THAT THERE IS ANY IMPROVEMENT OF PERCEIVED AUDIO QUALITY USING MQA OVER NON-PROPRIETARY FORMATS. remains the data reduction "advantage" of MQA for streaming only... And in the five years it will all take to get the patents - maybe, so far the patent applications are on hold for unknown reasons, possibly because the patent offices are in doubt that they have invented actually much - in those many years the available internet bandwidth bitrates will have increased manifold again, rendering their data reduction algorithm obsolete, before implementation in quantity. It would have been a legitimate cause, to lobby with an open deck of cards, pro better security, which would get them all with interest to protect intellectual property on board, musicians, audio professionals, all big and small labels, and probably also all the really music loving and "willing to pay for high quality audio" customers. If - and that's a BIG IF - they could provide the service of issuing the audio embedded security keys for a reasonable and fair cost. But the way Meridian is playing this game is beyond dirty, it's simply disgusting. And it's also stupid, to go against the knowledgeable, trying to deceive the gullible. I can only assume, that they do it because they were blinded by greed. I would fire the whole PR department first of all. And then anyone who hired them. If then nobody is actually left, well, then so be it. What is also strange, is that several Dolby "usual suspects" have applied for the patents, with Mr. Stuart being only one visible figure among several "dark horses". Maybe the whole thing is a grass root campaign to do a "Facebook" founding type of deception. A huge corporation, here Dolby, marketing deceptively through a lone "Robin Hood" sympathy catcher. Mr. Stuart, the sympathetic "Gyro Gearloose" of the audio business, nice try. Even if that turns out to be my creative fantasy only, not based in reality, all the other negatives still stand. But it would deserve a thorough investigation by a good investigative journalist. At the end of the day, I never liked companies which have in their ranks more people in licensing and PR departments, than in actually creative parts of the company... Nee hoor. Gewoon aansluiten op netwerk is al funest genoeg voor muziek.Was vroeger al met de Olive. Die klonk standalone ook veel beter zonder als met netwerkkabel. Dat is nu ook weer zo...

Helaas heb ik zelf ook geen simpele oplossing gevonden, behalve de meest puristische setting. Als ik geen radio stream maar vanaf harddisk muziek beluister trek ik de netwerkkabel eruit en dan klinkt het zoals in je openingspost. Wel over op de simpele afstandbediening dan...

Inderdaad, alleen heb je geen flauw benul hoever het principe gaat...

Tsja Onno, als je iets wilt verkopen moet je de consument daartoe uitnodigen, en niet een manke vergelijking gaan lopen verzinnen met huizenkoop en zo. Klinkt allemaal afwerend en ontkennend. Als proefluisteren bij deze hobby / materie hoort, dan zal de handelaar het moeten accepteren of anders zal ie omkomen. Dat gebeurde op grote schaal al. Mij lijkt het niet iets waar je moeilijk over moet doen als je geld wilt verdienen.

Die dus niet, dat zei ik al... Dat is iemand die dingen probeert na te maken. De werkende tegel wordt niet via internet te koop aangeboden, net zo min als de lamp.

Bovendien is het SuzyWongverhaal allang achterhaald. De tegel (noch de lamp) worden commercieel aangeboden. Geïnteresseerden weten er toch wel een te bemachtigen.

Zeg, als dat echt waar is, hoe heten die noten boven 10k dan? Dan moeten ze nl. ook van een naam zijn voorzien! Ik neb ze echt nog nooit in een westerse partituur zien staan, Carl. Maar als jij wil geloven dat ze er echr zijn, soit... Het druist overigens ook in tegen de akoestische kennis, die eveneens stelt dat muzikale grondtonen maar tot net 4k komen in toonhoogte.
