Recentie AMG: Donald Fagen was one of the two masterminds behind Steely Dan, the seminal jazz-pop band of the '70s. Fagen's solo work has been a continuation of the band's work of the early '80s — carefully constructed and arranged, intricately detailed pop songs that are more substantial than their stylish surface may indicate. His 1982 solo debut, The Nightfly, was the best album he had made in years; it covered the same ground as the last two Steely Dan albums, yet surpassed it in terms of ambition and achievement. After the success of The Nightfly, Fagen suffered a case of writer's block; for the rest of the decade he contributed music to the occasional film and briefly wrote a column for Premiere magazine in the mid-'80s. In the early '90s, he toured with the New York Rock & Soul Revue as he finished the material for his second album. With his former Steely Dan partner Walter Becker producing, 1993's Kamakiriad sounded like Aja recorded with '90s technology. It had some success on the adult contemporary charts, but it was overshadowed by the duo's decision to re-form Steely Dan and tour for the first time in nearly 20 years; the tour was a massive success. Hier post ik maar een heel album. Dit album heb ik aan veel die-hard Stones fan's laten horen,en iedereen z'n onderkaak pleurde daarbij op de grond van verbazing. Vele vonden veel tracks zelfs nog beter dan het orgineel. Ik kan daar niet over oordelen,want ik ben geen Stones fan,nooit geweest ook. Soms moet je eens van de bekende paden af, en dan struikel je zomaar over iets zo zeldzaam mooi,dat het vreemd is dat je er nog nooit van gehoord had. Ik ben reeds gestruikeld over vele mooie albums,en dat hoeven jullie dus nu minder te doen. Want ik heb er reeds een berg beschreven,maar er blijft nog veel te struikelen over Willard Grant Conspiracy--Flying Low Americana staat er vermeld,maar lees maar eens hoe men erover denkt. Heel mooi album.... He calls himself "Robert," but the Willard Grant Conspiracy singer-lyricist is obviously Nick Cave's long-lost twin brother. Imagine him stolen Stateside and reared in rural Massachusetts, host to most of Cave's eloquent sensualism but less of his suicidal romanticism and starchy posing, composer of odes to acrophobia and destroying a house element by element. Tensile strumming on guitars, banjos, and basses underpins each soliloquy, with gradual encroachment from distortion noises like spirits materializing in a haunted house as the sun sets. An album to play indoors in the middle of a cold, rainy day or outside at the dawn of a bright burning one. --Andrew Hamlin No Depression Flying Low ... is a marvel of depth and atmosphere that references nearly every archly weird musical endeavor from the modern era without sounding like any of them exactly. --Hans.

Hoeveel groepen jongeren zijn hier eigenlijk --Hans.

Eens in de zoveel tijd schijnt er een nieuwe ster aan de blues hemel. Dit is er zo eentje In het kader " man met gitaar,zonder stekker "...: Keb' Mo '---Keb'Mo' Mooi man! --Hans.

Je bent welkom, als je je orgel maar thuis laat, want daar hebben we er hier ruim voldoende van --Hans.

Voor een deel heb je gelijk. Maar er zijn voor hear wel degelijk zaken te regelen hier. Verder moeten wij natuurlijk zelf de zaak in de gaten blijven houden, en dit soort anonieme figuren inderdaad negeren. --Hans.

Moet daar geen O achter Enuuuh,hoevaak blijven we welkom zeggen tegen dezelfde persoon Lekker anoniem komen zeiken tegen forum-leden,hoe serieus nemen we dat nog? Dacht even hard-op, --Hans.

Wat te kort door de bocht vindt ik. Het drukt een invalshoek van een componist uit,en dus wel degelijk iets. Het is de bedoeling dat het dan ook wat los maakt,een soort XTC,een stemming-versterker. --Hans.

Als afsluiter dit live-album. Een lekker swingend album,met een op dreef zijnde Van Morrison. Altijd in een goede bui als hij met Fame,zijn grote steun en toeverlaat,op een podium staat. Even Morrison's daughter Shana comes on to sing his "Beautiful Vision." The material is not limited to Morrison compositions, either. In fact, it isn't so much that Morrison & Co. cover a variety of rock, pop, blues, R&B, and jazz standards as that many pieces are medleys that contain complete songs and quotes from others, rather in the way that a jazz soloist will suddenly throw in a few bars of a familiar tune. Bespeur ik daar een lichte vorm van jaloezie... --Hans.

I'm gonna fly,i'm gonna fly...... En ik schreef dat hij het beste bij stem was in dat nummer,en een van z'n laatste nummers. En vergeet ook de andere toppers niet... Kan zo snel de link niet voor je vinden... Dus: No thanx,graag gedaan! --Hans.

Op de achtergrond, en dat is niet eenvoudig voor 'n album wat pertinent naar voren wil Amy Grant---Behind The Eyes Als je de Jesus-gospel tijd even terzijde zetten kunt, is dit een erg sterk album. En ook met veel zorg in elkaar geplakt,en das ook weer mee genomen... Volgens vele recentie's,en wie ben ik,een van haar sterkste albums. Ik vindt 'm in ieder geval erg mooi,en das wat voor mij belangrijk blijkt --Hans.

Erg interesant Qwert, maar ik zal het moeten/willen horen Maar hoe kom ik hier aan 15 euro , maar voor een copy'tje met slechts 'n paar tracks hou ik me aanbevolen :D Adresje? --Hans.

Dank Henk, De dag begonnen met dit album: Van Morrison---Live At The Grand Opera House Belfast Daarna,iets totaal anders,maar niet minder mooi: Een groep singer/songwriters,die samen maar een label uit de grond hebben gestampt om hun muzikale ideeen het levens-licht te laten zien....en hoe!! Dead Reckoning is not just a small, acclaimed, Nashville record company; it's also a touring concert package. When the label's whole roster shows up at a nightclub near you, these singer-songwriters don't take each play a set alone; instead they all jump on stage at once and plug in. A typical Dead Reckoners live show has been documented on Night of Reckoning. Although it was recorded in a Nashville studio for audio-fidelity reasons, it was taped live without overdubs and is true to the spirit of the club shows. "I Desire Fire," is a hard-driving, bawdy blues rocker, followed by "Crying for Nothing," a hard-core honky-tonk ballad. There's the noisily aggressive country rock of "Workin' on It" and the half-spoken, half-sung Quentin Tarantino-gone-country narrative of "Waiting for the Assassin." -- Wellicht springen ze ook nog eens in de Witte Bal het podium op Alco Beslist gaan zien dan --Hans.

Even weer eens dit album opgezet. Lang niet meer gedraaid,en wel zo'n 5 jaar niet meer. Is en blijft een prachtig album,ook al zijn de geldwolven nu met man en macht bezig om elke piep van de man op de markt aan het brengen,ik hou het bij dit album. Jeff Buckley---Grace Met,voor mij dan,het hoogtepunt met de track's 7 & 9 Henk,maar weer eens een nieuwe openen? --Hans.

Tja,daar zeg je zoiets...... Ik vraag me nu in alle ernst af of we nog wel verder tijd/energie aan z'n figuur dienen te spenderen.... --Hans.
