Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is one of the greatest achievements in orchestration by any composer in jazz history. Charles Mingus consciously designed the six-part ballet as his magnum opus, and ? implied in his famous inclusion of liner notes by his psychologist ? it's as much an examination of his own tortured psyche as it is a conceptual piece about love and struggle. It veers between so many emotions that it defies easy encapsulation; for that matter, it can be difficult just to assimilate in the first place. Yet the work soon reveals itself as a masterpiece of rich, multi-layered texture and swirling tonal colors, manipulated with a painter's attention to detail. There are a few stylistic reference points ? Ellington, the contemporary avant-garde, several flamenco guitar breaks ? but the totality is quite unlike what came before it. Mingus relies heavily on the timbral contrasts between expressively vocal-like muted brass, a rumbling mass of low voices (including tuba and baritone sax), and achingly lyrical upper woodwinds, highlighted by altoist Charlie Mariano. Within that framework, Mingus plays shifting rhythms, moaning dissonances, and multiple lines off one another in the most complex, interlaced fashion he'd ever attempted. Mingus was sometimes pigeonholed as a firebrand, but the personal exorcism of Black Saint deserves the reputation ? one needn't be able to follow the story line to hear the suffering, mourning, frustration, and caged fury pouring out of the music. The 11-piece group rehearsed the original score during a Village Vanguard engagement, where Mingus allowed the players to mold the music further; in the studio, however, his exacting perfectionism made The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady the first jazz album to rely on overdubbing technology. The result is one of the high-water marks for avant-garde jazz in the '60s and arguably Mingus' most brilliant moment. Steve Huey

Daar hoef je helemaal geen conservatorium oid voor gehad te hebben, maar moet je wel weten hoe instrumenten in het echt klinken. Wat ik ervan begrijp is toch wel dat die blokgolven om daar maar even bij te blijven , o.a verantwoordelijk zijn in hoeverre een amp in dit geval bij machte is een natuurgetrouwe klank weer te geven. Ik kan dit niet zomaar een "foutje" noemen , dit is in mijn ogen toch wel fundamenteel. Dat veel mensen (audiofielen?) zich daarbij niet bedonderd voelen heeft er meer mee te maken dat het gros van die mensen volgens mij het verschil tussen een marimba en een vibrafoon niet eens horen/weten , of een trompet en een flugelhorn. Natuurgetrouwe weergave hoort toch het ultieme te zijn, of mis ik iets? -

ha Bas , nou dat is natuurlijk wel zo maar eerst deden die pics het wel nm , ik denk dat als die picserver veel hits krijgt dat ze dan het zaakje niet meer van buitenaf laten doorlinken en krijg je zo'n lame plaatje te zien van ze .

Dat ZAG er goed uit die pics (zie nu alleen nog maar een directlink plaatje van de picserver ) , jammer dat die M-Audio DAC niet meer te koop is nieuw .

weet je zeker dat het dxsound.exe is en niet dxsound.dll (is een directX wrapper voor je sound). Zo ja , ga dan eens scannen met ad-aware en spybot. scoor Ad-Aware hier scoor Spybot hier

Ja is standaard Lightwave, deze pic was gemaakt met Radiosity (Global Illumination), zit ingebakken in Lightwave , er zitten dus geen lichten in de scene. Hier het ik nog een testje met HDRI (High Dynamic Range Image) belichting , waarbij je een 360 graden panorama image de scene laat verlichtten. (dit is geen normale jpeg ofzo maar een special formaat image *.hdr of *.pic waarbij de lichtwaarden in het plaatje vertaald worden in rays zegmaar). HDRI RENDER

Ha , ik hou me ook al jaren bezig met 3d, om nog een beetje ontopic te blijven kun je hier een render zien van een amp die ik heb gehad (gemaakt met Lightwave 3d). PLAATJE heb jij ergens pics online staan?

Bij de meesten helaas onbekend Fela Kuti - Coffin for Head of State/Unknown Soldier These masterpieces were pivotal accomplishments for Kuti, as they solidified his rise from mere social commentator to fiercely determined cultural leader. Recorded after the brutal raid of his Kalaluta compound and the consequent death of his mother, they comprise two of the most personal statements Kuti ever made. "Coffin for Head of State" denounces the corrosive effect of Christian and Muslim influence on African life and takes to task the leaders that perpetuate the "Bad bad bad things/Through Jesus Christ our Lord." It takes its name from a protest in which Kuti and a group of supporters laid a coffin on the steps of Christian leader Olusegun Obasanjo's Dodan Barracks, the headquarters of the military government. An epic 31-minute tribute to his fallen mother, "Unknown Soldier" is one of the most ambitious recordings of Kuti's career which describes in frightening detail the events that transpired on the eve of the Kalakuta raid, including the rape of several women, beatings, mutilation, and the throwing of his mother ("the Mother of Nigeria") out of a window. The official police report after the raid blamed the attack on "unknown soldiers," and in response to this fantastic cover-up, Kuti gives a tortured, powerful performance of some of his most vivid and incendiary music

nou op de AMG komen ze niet boven de 2 sterren uit voor hun hele oevre, middelmatig bandje lijkt mij.En als ik dan ook nog bij de similar artists Spyro Gyra en de Rippingtons tegen kom , lijkt mij het fusak gehalte vrij hoog maarja ieder z'n meug. Dan kun je nog beter Weather Report opzetten.
